SFA’s services include the formulation and tailoring of federal legislation to execute client needs and requirements. Services include working key congressional committees such as the Appropriation and Authorization Committees.

  • Community Funding (House Appropriations Requests)

  • Economic Development Administration (EDA) Grants
  • Energy and Water Appropriations – Funds the Army Corps of Engineers: Operations and Maintenance Account, Construction Account, General Investigations Account. Including Donor & Energy Transfer Ports Program.
  • Homeland Security (Port Security, US Customs, US Coast Guard)
  • Strategic Seaports (military) – SFA represents two designated Strategic Seaports, one which is the busiest military port in the world.

Authorization Committees

  • House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I), Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW): WRDA Authorization and Transportation Reauthorization
  • House and Senate Armed Services: authorizes DOD funding and programs

Affiliations

  • SFA actively works with the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) on federal policies and legislation as it affects US seaports.
  • SFA supports local port Seafarer Centers, which service crews who have been at sea.
  • SFA also supports Camp Seaport, a five-day youth camp hosted by the Port of Port Arthur at the International Seafarers’ Center. Camp SeaPort was established over a decade ago as a way for students to learn about the maritime industry, as well as a way to showcase various career and educational opportunities.
  • SFA is a supporter and active participant of various local and national organizations that improve our communities, including Veteran outreach through Wreaths Across America, Honor Flight Network, and Team Red, White and Blue.
