Strategic Federal Advocacy (SFA) Inc., previously known as Rick Maldonado & Associates Inc. (RMA), is a bipartisan government relations consulting firm based in Washington DC. SFA focuses on federal relations in regards to legislative affairs and federal programs.
Leadership
Rick Maldonado is President and CEO of SFA and has 38 years of experience working on federal relations. Rick Maldonado graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University with a Master in Public Administration (MPA).
Prior to SFA, Rick was a Research Assistant at Harvard University, Senior Strategic Planner at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (New York City) and Director of Government Affairs at the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Kevin Gonzalez is Legislative Director of SFA and brings a wealth of experience working with the federal government and private industry in multiple capacities. Kevin graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance (BSBA) and from Rutgers Business School with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Global Business & Supply Chain Management.
Prior to SFA, Kevin was an officer in the US Air Force, where he spent 12 years leading multinational teams in executing operations for the US and its allies, providing logistics support for special operations and reconnaissance missions, and managing multiple aircraft fleets during multiple international assignments, including being responsible for US Transportation Command’s operations at two locations. After his military service, Kevin was a program consultant, working on global logistics operations, and a finance professional, overseeing a team of investment professionals in providing wealth-building products.
The firm’s federal advocacy includes representation of U.S. seaports, including intermodal operations both public and private, in the nation’s capital on a multitude of issues outlined under our services. SFA’s experience includes working legislative affairs in the US Senate, US House of Representatives, the Executive Branch and multiple federal agencies.
